State Auditor – Vote for Brian Sonntag (Incumbent, Democrat)

Seattle Times: Sonntag
Post Intelligencer: Sonntag

The Seattle Times Editorials:

For more than 10 years, Sonntag pushed for the ability to do performance audits of agencies…In 2005, voters passed an initiative to give him authority to do performance audits.

His office has completed 11 performance audits, recommending changes that could save $3.2 billion. The audit of the Port of Seattle produced stunning findings that attracted a federal investigation. By the end of this year, the state Department of Transportation will have implemented 80 percent of recommendations in four performance audits.

Brian Sonntag: Will focus on refining and advancing our performance audit program. Experienced, earned certification as a Certified Government Financial Manager.

J. Richard (Dick) McEntee: Focus on appointing top financial and planning professionals, implement savings from performance audits, perform audits on Office of State Auditor (audit costs have been spiraling upward), Department of Social and Health Services, secondary and higher education districts. Will not spend one minute in office running for re-election, and rather will spend full-time taking fiduciary responsibility for every tax-payer dollar.
